The Bills were pretty, and pretty ugly, and it was a pretty good day at the Ralph. Let’s cut a the tape and go over what went right, and what can be better in this week’s #POSTGAMEWRAPUP.

Ryan Was Gritty

As much as I hate on Matt Ryan in jest, he played his heart out today. He wasn’t able to get in the end zone on the final drive, which we’ll get to, but ultimately he gave a gutsy effort for his team. With minimal run game to talk about, he made pass after pass in big moments. The Bills gave him a few extra opportunities, and in true veteran fashion, he made the spry Bills pay. His best game may be behind him, but he gave it his all, and made a few youthful plays, including a great one on Bills star MLB Tremaine Edmunds. The sore right hammy of young stallion Kyle Pitts was a huge and unfortunate loss for the surprisingly cagey dome team Falcons.

Matty Ice in a Nutshell

Matt Ryan’s game today, and more specifically the final goal line play by Matt Ryan was Matty Ice’s career in a nutshell. He was exciting in moments, made the right read and a decent throw almost every chance he had, and led his team down the field in exciting fashion. He wasn’t able to secure the victory in the cold like he did that one fateful day in his Boston College era. When he stood up barking, he barked like a young dog and I even lit up inside seeing an old dog get up one last time. Unfortunately after the commercial break and a 15 yard taunting penalty on the old barking dog, it was ruled he was down by contact at the one. Unfortunate, because I was hoping to see it go down to the wire.

Allen Corrected his Mistakes with Youthful Defiance

Josh Allen is special. As much as Mark Sanchez ruined the vibe of a once again dominant quarterbacking performance by Allen, he showed by he is so fun to watch time and time again. Sanchez raised a good point, despite his apparent disdain for Allen’s bratty play style, and one that I have stated before. That Allen does need to protect himself, and that eventually he will catch one in the chin. Everyone is human. But fuck. Allen is a big man.

Watching Allen take pop after pop like a frat guy crushing beers with no regard for life itself was comically reflective of the fanbase. As long as Allen is on the field, this fanbase will continue to crash through tables just to get their heart rate high enough to endure another heart stopping Josh Allen football game. Sanchez isn’t used to the Allen heart rate, but Bills fans are getting used to it, and it’s human. It’s what’s humanly beautiful about the game of football. Will, desire, sacrifice, and courage.

Courage is Contagious

Allen is a great leader, and Brandon Beane has assembled a locker room full of men like him. This Bills franchise will be a winning one, for as long as Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott, and Josh Allen are here. They are all great examples of what it takes to be successful, and Bills fans should follow their lead on and off the field.
