This week’s pregame dump comes at halftime of the 1 O clocker, as the Bills find themselves in the limelight on Sundee Night. “Now Here’s a Guy” Collinsworth family party for WNY and Arrowhead Pride in Kansas City. I really don’t like the nepotism of mixing in Cris’s son, but it’ll be fun to see what Maria Taylor and NBC do for viewers to liven up the impactful AFC matchup which needs no further introduction. It’s a flat out high noon duel between two ageless gun slingers.. and any fan of the game should be shaking in anticpation. Let’s strap up our boots, count our bullets and hop on the horse for this week’s #PREGAMEDUMP
LEADERS LEAD
Pat Mahomes has been a natural leader his entire life. You can go back and find some very talented basketball footage of Mahomes in HS, and his college highlight reel is as comically comfy as his poorly fitting Red Raider helmet. Beyond the dazzling statistics and obnixiously talented whirling dirvish plays he makes on the field IN THE LIMELIGHT, he is a leader of his men in the dark as well. One thing I’ve always respected about Mahomes is his inherent tenacious pursuit for the final pull of the trigger. He is never dead, he’s never been broken, and he just keeps coming. He is much like Allen in this way, which is why both men won’t need to worry about money for a while.
Rattle the Rattlesnake
It will be difficult to rattle Mahomes, but everyone is human. I am truly interested to see how the Jolly Green Giant Greg Rousseau will do to not only make Mahomes uncomfortable on his dropback, but chasing down and finishing the kill after the initial rush. Mahomes has a heady way of knowing exactly when to skoot and pickup the first with his legs, but his threat on “scramble drill” is also a poisonous concoction. His rattlesnake poison is able to bring any cowboy to his knees. He knows how to kill, but does he know how to die?
My advice to Bills D? Hit him. Hard. Every chance you get. Take a penalty or two, they refs are going to call one or two that hurt us against Mahomes and the Chiefs anyways. Let’s see if we can dictate his mood and make sure he is fighting from behind, something he’s not bad at.. but not used to.
Unfamiliar Territory
Teams like the Chiefs are used to having fun. They are used to scoring points. Beyond the ability to dictate the game by chasing Pat down, and ensuring you finish the kill every chance you get, I’m yearning for the Bills DL to help dictate the tempo and feel of the game this Sunday night as well. The weather is pointing to a slop tart of a night in Arrowhead, and we just saw a Bills team and QB who could perform in wet conditions and not lose a step. The Chiefs aren’t typically used to having to fight in a slobberknocker, in the rain, versus a Buffalo defense like this. Can the Bills ruin Andy Reid and the Chiefs plans on Sunday night football in front of the world stage?
The AFC ain’t big enough for the 2 of us.
Time for the Comeuppance
In cowboy talk, a comeuppance is when someone “gets what’s comin to them.” I have watched Patty and the bois have their little fun. I have seen their little gimmick plays. I have seen Travis Kelce continue to talk with a SPRANGBREAK accent like James Franco long enough. I’ve said this all offseason and all season leading into this game, and it hasn’t really felt personal up until writing this. Im sick of the Chiefs.
I’ve always appreciated Mahomes greatness and respected Reid since he coached one of my favorites Donavan McNabb. But I think it’s time for them to get what’s coming. We saw them get their beating in the Super Bowl, as Mahomes went on trial for his karmic fun all year long. I think we see a similar Mahomes show tonight.
I predict the Bills play with a level of intensity that the fun-loving Chiefs aren’t ready for. I think I see Josh Allen playing a trustworthy game and showing that he has the ability to let his teammates win one for him. If Allen can stay safe, and stay healthy, the Bills SHOULD win this game. Poyer, Hyde, White will be tested all day long, but it will be the hitting and wrapping that makes the difference. I believe that the depth of the DL, LBs and DBs for Buffalo allows everyone on the D to play with a little extra fight in them. This will lead to a fight until the final whistle. We aren’t here to make friends in KC tonight.
Buffalo holds KC to a quiet and ugly first half as Bills fans think it’s over before it’s begun. Sharp defense and stout pass rush keeps Bills ahead until late push by never say die Patrick. Kelce takes a big hit and Hill gets wrangled. #50 Grow Up Game. Bills finish strong and prove presence. 33-23 Bills. BOOKIT.
