The Washington Football Team came into Highmark Stadium with something to prove, and they may have accomplished proving who they are, but it proved to be not very good. Let’s breakdown what went right and wrong for both teams in this weeks #postgamewrapup…
Tip Drill
As we suspected here at BLEUMAFIA, the ball was flip floppin’ around for Taylor Heinicke and the rest of the WFT offense. Heiney showed a lot of guts for a sub 6 footer, and will have a few bright days ahead, but he was cut down to size several times when it mattered most. Antonio Gibson showed serious signs of a bright future as his long play was very pretty, much to the chagrin of Head Coach Ron Rivera. The WFT Coaching staff allegedly told Heiney to not play “Hero Ball” at half, even though he was bringing them back into the game, and I think he took that personally.
The Bills Defense was stout all day long, and once again, not a lot of fun was had for the opposing offense.
Lots of SHOUT!
Even though Gibson finished with a nice day statistically, the Bills front 7 was thick against any run attempts early on. They forced Washington to turn to the air quickly, and got them right into the Bills Offenses’ style of game. We know that not many QBs will be able to stand up for a full 4 rounds with the Heavyweight Contender Josh Allen. He rocked, socked, and rolled and dolled the Washington defense all day long. I don’t believe he was sacked at all by Washingtons talented D.
The Bills were 9/15 on 3rd down, showing trust in each other in clutch moments, while the WFT went 2/11.

The Bills defensive backfield was active all day long, with 2 INT, and a Peanut Punch by Takeaway Tre. Taron Johnson proved once again he’s become much more than a strong hitter, as his big playmaking took one close to house. Jordan Poyer AND Micah Hyde both got their meaty claws on the pill, flying through the air majestically like camouflaged jungle cats. I’m sure the film will demonstrate a strong outing by Star and Oliver, as not much happened for Washington to speak of whenever it mattered. Matt Milano once again showed he’s worth more money, and worth every penny.
Sanders is In.
I was skeptical that Emmanuel was going to really show up and show out for the Bills. Today he certainly shut me the hell up. I won’ t doubt him again. He’s for real and as long as he’s healthy, he’s a tough cover for anyone in this scheme.
Onward & Upward
The offensive line gained a little more trust today, as I don’t believe the QB was sacked at all. The line was also notably not called for any holding penalties when it really mattered either. Cody Ford and the rest of the front 5 repetitively rode Chase Young & co. wayyy upfield, and let 17 step up and reset wide and tall and ready to pitch off the mound. There was a very high amount of trust between the QB and the OL this week, and that shows signs of a team getting warmed up, and a close team.
Close Teams Win ..
This team is getting tighter, and closer as a unit. As any readers know, I’m particularly fond of the Bills usage of QB/Coach Davis Mills, who I’ve always counted on to help Josh be better with the ball in touch & deep ball situations. He missed one today, but it was a bit windy, and he hit several right in the basket with confidence. The Offense, Defense & Special Teams looked sharp week 3, and as the Chiefs, Steelers, and Patriots all fall today, the Bills look pretty, pretty good going into a week 4 and Davis Mills….
THE TRUST BETWEEN QB AND WR HERE IS JUST ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
The placement on this @JoshAllenQB touchdown throw. #BillsMafia
