Here we are, we are back again in Arrowhead. As Josh Allen referred to it on Kyle Brandt’s podcast, Arrowhead can be one of the loudest stadiums, or the quietest. It’s surely going to be a great one, so let’s take a look at what to watch for and what the Bills will need to do to win today.

Finish the Job

As mentioned on the BLEUMAFIA pod, the Bills need to Finish the job today. It doesn’t matter how, good, bad, ugly.. just need to FINISH. Josh Allen and Gabe Davis finished last year, and then the Special Teams and Defense did not. Say what you will about the QB and talent on KC, but the Bills D didn’t perform like the “Number 1” defense on the final stage of the AFC divisional. Will they be able to finish the final act today? I have faith that Von Miller Will Help.

Big Game Hunter

Shaun O’Hara, former Giants OL and TV personality on GMFB referred to Von Miller as “The Big Game Hunter,” and I LOVE that nickname. The way Miller has leaned into the WNY vibe and recognized that this franchise is a big market level franchise, even if Buffalo is a “small market” town. He has looked like the hardworking locker room and front office has inspired him to be a better man on and off the field, and enhanced his charismatic style with an open mind. His age isn’t showing, other than in the leadership role, making Groot and the rest of the DL look even better than last year. He looks the part, and I find it humorous how he has been shocked and awed by the General Josh Allen’s braveheart QB play. I can only assume Allen’s warrior spirit also brings the best out of Miller, who I’m truly looking forward to watching today vs Patrick and Travis.

Enough Playing Nice

I’m aware that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are “great guys,” ok? I’m sick of the Bills treating the Chiefs like they are both franchises who’ve won a Ship. The Chiefs have, the Bills haven’t, and even though I’m not a fan of Nick Wright, he’s right about this being somewhat of an early reminder of early Manning/Brady rivalry. Brady and Belichick won early, with a Bledsoe early start and vet (Alex Smith), whereas Manning was a savior for a starved Colts franchise, with pain and anguish in it’s history. (Colts left Baltimore) Manning never got the ring with the Colts, and both eventually left as their bodies aged. Maybe Josh and the Bills better get a ship before they treat the Chiefs as their equal. As of right now, they’re still the champs, and the Bills still haven’t won a thing.

Chiefs Jersey #’s to Watch For

Hill is gone, but the Chiefs aren’t short of weaponry. RB#25 Clyde Edwards-Helaire is still a bowling ball, and though the Chiefs don’t use him EVERY week, they probably will today. Juju Smith-Schuster #9 isn’t as quick as he was coming out of USC, but he’s a savvy possession WR who is quietly developing a rapport with improvisation specialist Patrick. #24 Skyy Moore is a rookie, who hasn’t done much yet, but he has the ability to get behind a defense. Fans will remember speedy #17 Mecole Hardman is still a deep threat, as well as former Packer WR Marques Valdes-Scantling #11.

On D, the Chiefs don’t have a “Number 1” defense, but they do have some mess makers on the front 4. Rookie George Karlaftis #56 is a problem, soon to be star. Chris Jones #95 and #55 Frank Clark ARE NASTY and will definitely be a problem for 17 and the OL. Veteran hybrid DE/LB Carlos Dunlap #8 (scary) is also quietly a part of the Chiefs D, who is surely trying to emulate the Bills Depth in order to chase THE GENERAL Josh Allen around all day. L’Jarius Snead #38 is a top tier CB, and the Chiefs secondary is no slouch. It’ll be a battle and they will be ready to fight for 15 rounds.

My Prediction

I don’t think the Bills are going to go down without a fight, obviously. Neither are the Chiefs. Tyreek Hill isn’t playing in today’s Bills/Chiefs, game, so I don’t want to hear about him any more. The Bills know this is a new year and a new team, and they have a new soldier. I think they will play confidently on D, and I expect the Chiefs to try and slow down the Bills explosive offense. Fans will expect a shootout, but I expect both teams to try and inflict some WILL into the game. Dorsey should take this one as a personal challenge, going tit for tat with Andy Reid. I look forward to seeing how Kair Elam steps up after a rough one last weekend, and I hope that Pat is hit, hard, over and over again.

Bills will be sharp in this one, hopefully not wound too tight. I see some new faces making plays today, and Shakir and Knox should have ample opportunity with the focus on Diggs/Davis. I would love to see Cookie Monster James Cook get some nice easy touches and get into a rhythm, but I fully expect Big Game Devin Singletary to step up as he always does in the big lights.

Pat gets his head put in the dirt and Bills finish nasty, leaving a good feeling, but a reminder that it’s a long season. Bills 33-17.
