The NFL is hitting it’s stride in week 6, with all but one game completed as Western New York and the Buffalo Bills all headed down to Honkey Tonk Land for the Primetime matchup. Let’s breakdown what I think you’ll see under the lights in Tennessee on MNF in the special PREGAMEDUMP.

King of Kings

Derrick Henry isn’t like most backs. You may remember him in college, dwarfing a former Crimson Tide runner in Mark Ingram. He is simply a specimen. Size, speed, strength. A True old school half back. They don’t make them like Jim Brown anymore, but Henry is straight out of the past. His high school statistics are staggering, and he dominated at Alabama. He isn’t a bad egg either, his attitude and demeanor are old school as well, he’s a pretty good dude. Hard to not root for. Unless he’s playing the Bills of course.

The Bills will need to lay the lumber, but I’m looking for them to surround the runner with hats, and group wrangling the monster. You know in the Rodeo where you see all the clowns wrangling the bull with distraction and teamwork? That’s what I see Coach Sean McDermott & DC Leslie Frasier doing on Monday night. Putting a gang of wranglers around the beast, rather than do what Josh Norman tried to do…..

Ride the Wave

If you tuned into the BLEUMAFIA Pod this week, or follow me on socials, you already know what Ridin the Wave means. Josh Allen has done a great job already this year of demonstrating his maturity and ability to grow as a QB. One big way he did that was protecting himself last week against the Chiefs. I loved seeing Allen get yardage, and get his big body down on the ground before anyone can even breathe on him. That’s riding the wave. That’s trusting that you’ve been here before, and will be here again, and again, and again (scoring position.) Allen has shown that he is patient and willing to let the team carry him through the regular season.

He doesn’t need to do it all, he just needs to ride the bloodthirsty wave that is this Bills defense.

Blitz & Batter the Tan Man

Tannehill isn’t shabby, but when he’s forced to win a game for the Titans, he isn’t elite either. The Titans love to play with a lead, and know how to as well. You may remember them slowly choking out a Bills team who was missing several key players last year including Matt Milano and Tre White. I don’t see it that way this time around. The depth we have at the DL position will certainly help with the bruising, battering style of Henry and the Titans.

If the Bills can get out to an early lead, the Titans won’t have enough to get into a shootout, despite their WR corps.

AJ Brown and Julio Jones are monsters, but they’ve yet to show their potential this season. The Titans are also missing Jonnu Smith who was a huge factor in last years’ matchup with the Bills. Arthur Smith moved on to Atlanta to call the O, and the Titans have yet to find their stride, but will seek to against a very good Bills team.

The Titans want this one, and I would not be surprised to see their best showing so far. The Bills will hopefully be clicking on all cylinders, and despite about 50k Bills fans being in Tennessee, hopefully they all stayed in and stayed safe and sharp. It’s going to be a beautiful night for football, with clear skies and a lot of Bills cheerleaders.

22 Eyes

The defense is flourishing right now, and they are doing it as a collective unit. Jordan Poyer was once again magnificient, tracking down and destroying his targets like Predator in the jungle. Fast and furious, his ice cold eyes track the ball like no one I’ve ever watched. Trent DIlfer recently used the term “22 Eyes” to describe Sean and Leslie’s style of defense the Bills are attacking with right now, and though I don’t love everything Dilfer doctors up, that was a great personifier. The Bills do seem to all maintain leverage and eyes on the ball, as a unit, and individually. I expect this to help wrangle the old bull this weekend, but I expect us to see a big spotlight on %49 Tremaine Edmunds.

Green Means Go

The Bills Offense has looked borderline unstoppable at times, but overall hasn’t shown many signs of weakness. Nobody has really been able to stop the attack or personnel that Buffalo travels with, and I don’t see Tennessee being able to either. The back 4 of the Titans are seasoned, with Janoris “Jackrabbit” Jenkins and Kevin Byard, but expect to see #29 Dane Cruikshank be attacked early and often. Bud Dupree was once quite scary, but has lost a step or two, and former Colt Denico Autry is no slouch off the edges. The Bills should pass all over this Vrabel defense, which clearly is focusing the bankroll on the other side of the ball. Bills shouldn’t have issue scoring tonight.

Final Prediction – #BOOKIT

Bills strike first early, but Titans show they came to play. Edmunds proves why he can never leave Buffalo, and also proves he’s Pro Bowl Caliber. Henry runs rampant but Tanehill shits the bed with a few costly turnovers due to seeing ghosts of a DL that any QB should fear.

Bills 37

Tenn 21
