You know what time it is. It’s time for the #pregamedump. Your weekly Buffalo Bills Game Day Preview written morning of, day of, with all the final throw-up-before-kickoff feelz. Let’s take a look at what Bills fans can expect to see today out in Orchard Park.

Rain was in the forecast all week, but it looks like the skies will once again clear for a fall-tastic fair weather day, with some sunshine peaking in. Bills fans will be dry, but drunk, as they enter the hallowed ground of Ralph Wilson. Highmark will be as always, high volume, and the WFT is in for an early seasonal treat. Can Heiney and his boys trick the Bills defense into believing in his hype? Or will Micah and Jordan have Heiney Hyding in the spotlight?

Can the Bills Shut Down Heiney & the Bois?

Home QB Boo Boo

Once the darling honey boo boo of Buffalo (2 wks ago) the frail fanbase has already begun speculating, as the weather turns chilly, unsurprisingly, that Josh Allen the coveted King of Western New York has “Regressed.” It’s as if someone invented a new word. Have Bills fans ever been able to accuse such a blasphemous chastisement? Not since perhaps Doug Flutie or maybe Alex Van Pelt have the Bills had a QB who was facing “Regression” Questions. I wish Bills fans would just shut up and enjoy their QB, cheap ticket and cheap beer while they can. After seeing OU’s Boomer Sooner crowd boo their young (but much more unlikeable) QB at home last night, it made me consider the possibility of Bills fans Boo Birds coming out early if he doesn’t look sharp, or misses another big TD.

I hope I’m wrong of course.

I hope Bills fans try to uplift their team and QB as they have in some moments of triumph like the 10 year anniversary of the Bills cutting down the Patriots at home.

The fans need to understand that this QB isn’t a man like Flutie, Jim Kelly, some old punch drunk yellow earpad former star, the kid is only 25. Understanding he had a terrific year, you must as a fan understand he isn’t done struggling yet. The game is hard. Think long game with Allen, he’s not going to regress, he’s just always going to be getting better.

Go back and read my preseason notes on what Josh Allen will need to overcome this season, all season.

I fully expect Allen to get on track today, but I don’t think it’s going to look how it did last season yet. What I truly care about most is winning, and coming together at this point. Get the job done. Stay healthy. Work toward a Super Bowl. Bills fans want it to look pretty, how it did with white gloves and no fans in 2020, and make them forget about things. Face your own music in your own lives Bills fans, and let Josh Allen face his.

Sanders – Situation for Me?

I will have my eye on Emmanuel Sanders this weekend. I am absolutely impressed with the things he has done for charity on paper and on camera the last few weeks. He has become to me, someone to watch. The smile, the single digit #1. The long storied career of various successful stops in successful places. He is a good player.

But that’s not why I’m watching.

I already know ES can ball. I know he can score TDs, shift and get open and make things happen in space. I want to know if he is committed. Not committed to winning for himself, but this locker room, this young QB, and this O Line. I am a bit skeptical on how honestly loyal ES really is, from my vantage point. I could be wrong, but how will he continue to contribute when the going gets tough, or when it gets chilly outside?

If Gabe Davis is healthy, I expect him to play more and more as the season goes on, but this weekend I do expect to see Sanders get a lot of action, because he’s a very warm player right now.

Diggs – Situation for Me?

Diggs has been decent thus far, but this weekend will again present both he, Sanders, and the rest of the WR with a big challenge. How will the Bills respond to adversity throughout the season, especially in games like today vs Washington. The WFT D has ballers on the backend, Landon (not Landry Jeremy) Collins is a swaggy reaper, slicing through your offensive routes with deadly awareness. He will come down and bury someone or take one away, perhaps to the house. The D Line is going to get after Josh Allen all day long unfortunately. I just don’t have faith in the OL at this juncture personally.

How will Diggs respond if faced with another grueling, physical matchup? How can Sanders and Diggs work together in the thick of the mud the blood and the guts?

O Line – Must Reach State of Love & Trust

The O Line isn’t full of top tier NFL Veteran star lineman. It’s just a reality. The OL isn’t Great. It doesn’t mean it can’t be a great Offensive Line though. To me what truly makes an offensive line isn’t only having 5 great men up front. To me it’s about having 5 men having great trust in each other. We know they care about the QB, but the QB being a reckless savage makes them a bit less empathetic. He has never been hurt thus far, since an early elbow injury kept him out a few weeks, a few years ago.

The OL needs to come together and form trust, and recognize they need to be grateful for their assignment. They better show up today. I have faith they will find a state of love and trust.

Takeaway Tre

This will be a game that comes down to turnovers. Both head coaches will have their teams locked in and engaged, and understanding that this game is personal. It may not be division or playoff, but the coaches worked together and have respect for each other, but are obviously both very competitive individuals. The Bills roster will understand 1-53 that they let HC Sean McDermott down 2 wks ago versus his former teammate Mike Tomlin. I expect Taylor Heinicke to throw the ball about 60x today, despite the WFT trying to run the ball early in the game. Eventually, thanks to a couple of WILEY interceptions by the defense, possibly including #27 in some fashion, the Bills will flip to a heavy run set and finish off the game, while Taylor keeps chucking, and deflections keep happening.

Watch out for #27 to make a day of it.

Final Outcome

I see the Bills winning this game pretty handily, but there will need to be a sense of urgency. I don’t think the Bills will come out flat to any contest from here on out, now that the shortened preseason has evaporated into late September. The Bills will begin to cook now, as you’ll see teams with real, raw, authentic camaraderie, compassion and competitiveness come out to play. The NFL is the Not For Long League, but my message to any fan would be, enjoy the show, because it’s going to last a lifetime for a fan. Josh Allen will be fine, and that’s all he’s going to need to be, for this season at least.

The defense will surely win Buffalo a few games this year, and this will be one of them. Josh Allen won’t need to do much, as fans will drool over multiple turnovers from a bloodthirsty defense. WFT had a scary defense entering the season, but I think the Bills undress them due to a beautiful day in WNY. Heinicke goes down punching, but TOs kill his first day out. Keep an eye on Chase Young though. He’s always scary. Stay healthy and get out with a DUB! Who knew the Bills defense would be this scary before Halloween? They’ll be the belle of the ball while the Diva? WR room has to wait their turn.
