Josh Allen and the Bills put on one of the best shows in franchise history on Saturday night in what many will remember as their best night in franchise history. The weather was antarctic, the atmosphere electric, and the turf was tarped before kickoff. Let’s break it all down in this WILD CARD #postgamewrapup.
Remember to Forget
This game was one for the ages for both Bills and Pats fans. Ryan Fitzmagic was even in attendance to take in the battle, and though he wasn’t wearing a Bills jersey, we know who he was rooting for. HE PLAYED FOR ALL 3 AFC EAST TEAMS BUT THE PATS. The Amish Rifle along with thousands of other committed and vaccinated fans packed it in and got big like Buffalo always does when the camera points on us, and the pregame festivities were bonkers. I applaud all fans in attendance for their fortitude and commitment to team and Super Bowl. 10/10 for BillsMafia on the night. Behavior, attendance, belief, noise. Good showing for the mafia. Hopefully the beers freezing helps them remember such a beaut.
Mac Sauce
Maccy Boi wasn’t great. He got a bit of an education in this one. The Patriots were not afraid to try and push the ball downfield, taking several shots in the seams and using the comeback route as many young QB teams do. Easy reads and pretty quick game, but I did see some legitimate fire and fearlessness in Mac’s eyes. It was honestly a little disappointing how the Patriots responded to adversity all night, especially on defense, the team was overall flat and not involved much at all. No closeness, no togetherness. The cold did seem to affect the Patriots, which we know home cookin obviously hurts more in someone else’s kitchen. I did like Mac’s demeanor though, and he won’t go away. Until next year tho son.
Allen.
Allen took it up to another level of stardom. As mentioned on the pregame show, I have continued to believe I can see him continue to ascend and gain more and more control over the NFL DUKE football. Though this game is one that Bills fans will never forget, Allen needs to forget about this one quickly, and save it for the golf course this summer. I am confident that he won’t basque in this for too long, though it must feel good for a kid who everyone doubted. (especially with Derek Carr going home) The bottom line is this is step 1/4. I think Allen knows that and I hope the defense knows that.
Defense Wins Championships
This was a good one for the Bills defense. They were able to control the outcome time and time again on anything the Patriots tried to do, and other than a few Mac Jones spurts in the beginning, no rushing breakout. This again, must feel good for a team ranked #1 with no Pro Bowl “caliber” players. A beautiful educational demonstration of how to track down a football by Micah Hyde pissed on Jones’ parade early, and the D was able to rotate over and over again on the front 4, something that was devised and experimented on all season long like a real championship “caliber” team does.
Home Grown
Devin Singletary, Dawson Knox, and Gabriel Davis all scored TDs for the Bills on Saturday night, under the primetime lights. BLEUMAFIA fans know that all three of these players were handpicked by the front office, and drafted and developed in an organic process. This culture isn’t something that was bought. This culture isn’t something that just got a shiny new stadium in a new city. This culture isn’t something that was developed overnight. This culture isn’t something that relies on analytics and fancy new playbooks.
This culture is home-grown baby. It’s ready for the long haul. It’s got deep roots. It’s got long-established bloodlines. It’s got fight and it’s got fire. But the job isn’t done in 2022.
Job’s Not Done.
This is a great one for Buffalo. This is a great one for Josh and the Bois. Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott, and Josh Allen all know, however, that this job isn’t done. OC and DC also have work to do this season before taking opportunities elsewhere. The job is only a quarter of the way done, and to be Super Bowl Champions, a lot much more must be done. Henry, Mahomes, Brady, Burrow, Rogers, Stafford, Dak are all still out there, conquering land and earning their own memories.
Enjoy this BLEUMAFIA, but remain vigilant. We are not done yet.
REMEMBER THE TEXANS GAME.
REMEMBER THE CHIEFS GAME.
WE HAVE WORK TO DO.
