It’s been a minute BLEUMAFIA, but I’m back. As you may have heard on the podcast, I took a trip to Oklahoma City. It was awesome, but I’ll save those stories for another day as it’s back to Billsness This Week as we have a tough Colts team coming to town. Let’s break it down on this week’s PREGAMEDUMP.
My Faire Wentz
Frank Reich as you may know once donned the red and blue, having led the greatest comeback in football history at Rich Stadium. He knows what it takes to win, and he knew he needed a QB. He went out and got his old church pal Carson Wentz, following a pisspoor finish to a promising career in Philadelphia. Just a few years ago, I was able to attend each home game of the 2019 season with a “Season Pass.” and watched Wentz pound hole all day long against a sleepy Bills team. This was one of the few bad losses in a very surprising year for the upstart Bills. Wentz may be a dork, but he can make big plays and he is smart enough to call a good game at the LOS.
Taylor Made
Behind Wentz is one of the NFL’s best backs in Jonathan Taylor. He was a track star who’s Wisconsin career featured a plethora of 1-cut dashes to the end zone. He is a brute in the hole, and the Bills being down Tremaine Edmunds will be interesting. AJ Klein has proven to be a decent plug and play LB, but can he last 4 quarters against a tough Colts line and mad dash backfield? Beyond Taylor, Wentz will also look for Nyheim Hines out of the backfield, a quick scatback who can break tackles and make momentum swinging plays.
Look for #11 Pittman all day as he can get open and make plays at all 3 levels as a WR. Veteran Wideout T.Y. Hilton should play, and despite being a non-factor all season, can still break one. WR Zak Pascal and TE Mo Alie-Cox will seek to gain the advantage on 1on1s in the slots and seams on nickels and LBs.
ITS GON RAIN
Wet balls in November in Western New York! Wet balls and chilly fingers and hard hits always make for a slop fest, and this game could get a little drinky. Josh Allen has been talking a lot about beer lately, and I’m hoping it’s just for the money and he isn’t consuming it as much as the 20-something kid with a job at Gamestop would. Anyways, he needs to play smart today and be productive and not miss opportune moments as they will be few and far between in a rainy day at the ralph. Wentz should give away a few slop tart balls, and our defense should thrive in a one dimensional game, but can Allen rally the troops without Spencer Brown bouncing the door?
Final Prediction?
I think the Bills should stand up together and finish this one nasty today. My only fear is, they won’t. I am not a huge fan of the overall attitude and expectations of this team right now, but I am hoping to be proven wrong! Until I see the O-Line together in a dog fight and finish as a unit, versus a good team, I can’t trust it! Good Not Great Thus Far. Can the Bills OL Be Great in the rain?
23-16 Colts.
