Well it’s a rainy cold day in Buffalo, and for that reason, I’m out on playing Josh Allen. Let’s talk about that and more on today’s @PREGAMEDUMP…
Safety First
I’ve been saying ALL YEAR LONG – this team goes as far as Josh Allen goes, and his safety is paramount to a Super Bowl run. That being said, I’ve been vocal all week about how I believe the Bills should make the safe choice today in playing Case Keenum. We live in a cold town, and if we lived in LA or Phoenix, I might not be so worried, but stuff just hurts more in this weather. Save him, please, Mr. Beane.
If he plays…
If he does seem like he’s okay to play, it’s still on the other 52 men to win this game today. Each man is paid to do his duty, and the O Line is going to need to really lead the charge today. Run game and play action pass should be fluid and fast, and if the Bills can get push up front they can certainly win the game even with a routine performance from under center.
O’Connell’s Boys
Head Coach Kevin O’Connell is a great coach, and a former QB. He left the Rams outfit left now in shambles, as the Vikings sit pretty at 7-1. He has made the Vikings a very balanced football team, and brought out the best in Kirk Cousins. Nobody seems to respect them despite their record, and I think they really want this one to prove themselves. The run game is no slouch, though I’m still not so sure if the Cook brothers like cold weather.
Patrick Peterson was a free agent this summer, and I REALLY wanted the Bills to get him. Unfortunately for us, he’s still on the Vikings and #7 is a fast, powerful, and jungle cat like ball hawk. He is a savvy vet who leads a team who is playing well as a unit. #55 Z’Darius Smith comes over from division rival Green Bay, and is a big predator coming off the edge. SS #22 Harrison Smith is also savvy, and can hit, but can also be beat over the top. Another Harrison- former Bill Harrison Phillips also sits across the LOS from the Buffalo OL.
My Prediction
It’s sort of hard to predict what’s going to happen, because of the Josh Allen effect. I don’t really want to see him out there risking further injury, but if he plays I know we can win and he’s probably safe because there are doctors who know much more than I do calling the shots. IF he plays we probably rally around and win, but I’m afraid he won’t. Elam injury hurts, so does Rousseau. Poyer and Hyde being out has really hurt the run game.
I have the Bills d really stepping up today, and picking off Kirk Cousins several times on this cold Buffalo Sunday. QB play doesn’t need to be much but needs to be effective, along with a run game. If Buffalo can pound hole, they win, but if not, they lose. I have a Vikings gritty victory on a late game drive due to Bills depth in question on D. 24-21 Vikings.
Gobills.
